Qatar Document Legalisation Requirements

Important: the embassy will not accept documents that have been certified or apostilled together as a bundle. Every document must carry its own solicitor certification and its own apostille. Any document that doesn’t meet the embassy’s requirements is refused, so we check each one before anything is submitted.

Which documents can be legalised for Qatar

Personal documents
Police clearance / criminal record certificates (ACRO, DBS), fingerprints, passport copies, driving licence, medical reports, birth, marriage and divorce certificates, court orders, wills and inheritance documents, change of name (deed poll), personal powers of attorney.

Educational documents
Postgraduate degrees, higher education degrees, college certificates and diplomas, further education (A-Level, BTEC, NVQ, HNC, HND, Levels 1–3), secondary education (GCSE), primary school certificates (per child).

Commercial documents
Commercial contracts, certificates of incorporation or registration, memorandum and articles of association, certificates of good standing, company financial and trade reports, commercial powers of attorney, trademark and patent assignments, share transfer authorisations, undertaking certificates, certificates of free sale, product health, medical, veterinary and radioactivity certificates, certificates of origin, invoices and packing lists, product price lists.

Special requirements for educational documents

The embassy applies extra rules to degrees and other qualifications. Before we can submit an educational document, you’ll need to provide:

1. A covering letter from your university or college, on letterhead, confirming: where you studied, where you sat your examinations, the start and end dates of the course, whether it was full-time or part-time, and whether it was taught face to face or by distance learning.

2. An academic transcript, stamped or signed by the registry, listing every module you studied each year, the marks or grades achieved, and the credit value and level of each module. If you don’t have one, request it from your institution before ordering.

The covering letter and transcript are legalised as separate documents and charged per document.

Special requirements for commercial documents

The embassy does not accept commercial documents directly from applicants. All UK commercial documents must be submitted through the Arab British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), which certifies them and forwards them to the embassy’s legalisation department. We handle the ABCC stage for you as part of our company documents service, which is why commercial legalisation takes longer than personal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our full service takes 9 to 13 working days for personal and educational documents and around 14 working days for commercial documents. The embassy itself takes a minimum of 4 to 5 working days and offers no express option, so no provider can do it faster than that stage allows.

The embassy has no urgent service. What we can do is turn round the solicitor certification and apostille stages quickly so the document reaches the embassy as soon as possible. If your deadline is tight, contact us before ordering and we’ll tell you the earliest realistic date.

£145 per personal or educational document and £225 per commercial document for the full service — solicitor certification where needed, FCDO apostille and embassy stamp. If your documents are already certified and apostilled, the embassy stage alone is £90 per document.

No. Each document must be certified and apostilled individually. Documents bundled under a single apostille are refused.

A covering letter from the university confirming the details of your course and an academic transcript. Without these the embassy will not legalise the degree. See the educational requirements section above.

The embassy requires all UK commercial documents to come through the Arab British Chamber of Commerce. We manage that stage as part of our company documents service.

Not for the legalisation itself — the embassy legalises English documents. Some Qatari authorities may ask for an Arabic translation afterwards; if you need one, we can arrange a certified translation alongside the legalisation.

£22 per personal or educational document and £33 per commercial document, payable by postal order only. Our prices cover this — you don’t pay the embassy separately.

Yes, by post, with the embassy’s covering letter, a postal order for the fee and a prepaid Special Delivery return envelope — after you’ve arranged the solicitor certification and apostille separately. Most clients use us because a single mistake at any stage means the document comes back unlegalised and the fee is lost.
