Which company documents can be apostilled?

An apostille is an official certificate added by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) confirming your document is genuine, so it can be accepted in any country that is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention.

Why your company documents need solicitor certification first

Company documents cannot go straight to the FCDO for an apostille — they first need to be certified by a UK solicitor. The certification carries a signature the FCDO can verify, which is what allows the apostille to be issued. We arrange this for you for £20 per document. The Certificate of Good Standing is the exception — it can be apostilled directly without solicitor certification. See our dedicated Certificate of Good Standing page.

Some countries require notarisation instead — we cover that too

A small number of countries do not accept solicitor certification on company documents and instead require them to be notarised by a Notary Public before the apostille. We offer this service at an additional cost. If your destination country requires notarisation — or if you’re not sure what it accepts — contact us before ordering and we’ll confirm the correct route and price for your documents.

3. We submit the certified documents to the FCDO for the apostille.
4. Your apostilled documents are returned to you, ready to use abroad.

Pricing

• Solicitor certification (required before apostille): £20 per document
• Standard apostille (3–5 working days): £59 per document
• Next-day apostille (next working day, received before 10:30am): £79 per document

Example: next-day service is £20 + £79 = £99 per document. Standard is £20 + £59 = £79.

Notarisation (where required by the destination country) and obtaining documents from Companies House are available at additional cost — contact us for a quote.

Who needs a company documents apostille?

Good to know

Many overseas authorities want recently issued documents — a Certificate of Good Standing in particular is often only accepted if issued within the last three to six months. If yours is older, we can obtain a fresh one from Companies House for you. If you need multiple documents apostilled, add them all to one order — we offer discounts for corporate and repeat clients.

Q: Will they be accepted in my destination country?
A: An apostille is recognised by all member countries of the Hague Apostille Convention. If your destination requires full embassy legalisation instead, we can arrange that too.
