Degree & Transcript Apostille UK

Apostille from £59 — next-day service from £79

Taking your education abroad? Universities, employers and immigration authorities overseas often require your degree certificate or academic transcript to be officially apostilled before they will accept it. We arrange the solicitor certification your document needs and obtain the FCDO apostille on your behalf, so it’s recognised abroad without the stress of doing it yourself.

Please keep in mind that we don’t issue apostilles ourselves. We specialise in guiding your academic documents through the correct official channels quickly and accurately, so you avoid the rejections and delays that catch most people out.

What is a degree or transcript apostille?

A degree certificate or academic transcript is issued by your university or awarding body and confirms your qualification. These are among the most commonly requested documents for working, studying or registering with a professional body overseas.

An apostille is an official certificate added by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) confirming your document is genuine, so it can be accepted in any country that is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention.

Why your degree needs solicitor certification first

A degree certificate or transcript cannot go straight to the FCDO for an apostille — it first needs to be certified by a UK solicitor. The certification confirms the document and carries a signature the FCDO can verify, which is what allows the apostille to be issued. We can arrange this for you for £20 per document.

Original or copy — how to send your document

We can apostille either your original document or a certified copy. Choose whichever suits you:

On the original: post your original degree or transcript to us, or bring it to our London office in person. We’ll handle the certification and apostille and return it to you.

On a copy: if you’d rather keep your original safe, simply send us a clear scan of your document. We arrange for a UK solicitor to certify the copy, then submit it for the apostille.

If you’re not sure which is right for your destination, send us what you have and we’ll advise.

How it works

  • Send or bring your degree/transcript (original), or email us a clear scan (copy).
  • We arrange the solicitor certification (£20 per document).
  • We submit the certified document to the FCDO for the apostille.
  • Your apostilled document is returned to you, ready to use abroad.

We handle the entire process and keep you updated at every step.

Pricing

  • Solicitor certification (required before apostille): £20 per document
  • Standard apostille (3–5 working days): £59 per document
  • Next-day apostille (next working day, received before 10:30am): £79 per document

Example: next-day service is £20 + £79 = £99. Standard is £20 + £59 = £79.

Who needs a degree or transcript apostille?

  • Taking up a job offer overseas that requires proof of qualifications.
  • Applying to study at a university abroad.
  • Registering with a professional or licensing body in another country.
  • Applying for a skilled-worker visa that requires verified qualifications.

Good to know

You can apostille a degree certificate, a postgraduate or master’s certificate, a PhD certificate, or an academic transcript. If you need several documents apostilled (for example a degree plus its transcript), you can add them all to one order. If your destination also requires a certified translation, we can arrange that too — just let us know. Taking your degree to Italy? The Italian Consulate requires a special verification process — see our Italian Declaration of Value page. For Spain, see Spain Document Legalisation.

Which countries ask for an apostilled degree?

Most countries accept the apostille alone, but some Gulf states need embassy legalisation as well.

Frequently asked questions

Can the FCDO apostille my degree certificate directly?
Not usually. Degree certificates aren’t signed by a public official, so they need to be certified by a UK solicitor first. We arrange this for £20 per document.
Can you apostille a copy so I keep my original?
Yes. Send us a clear scan, we’ll have it certified by a solicitor, and then apostilled. Your original stays safely with you.
Do I need to send the original degree certificate?
Only if you want the apostille on the original itself. You can post it or bring it to our London office. Otherwise, the copy route only needs a clear scan.
How long does it take?
Standard service is 3–5 working days. For documents received before 10:30am, our next-day service returns it the next working day.
Can I apostille a transcript as well?
Yes. Transcripts are treated the same way: solicitor-certified, then apostilled. Each document needs its own apostille and is charged separately.
What if I’ve lost my degree certificate?
Contact your university for a replacement or an official letter confirming your award. Both can be apostilled once certified.
What is a degree apostille needed for?
Teaching abroad, work visas, postgraduate study overseas and professional registration. Gulf states, China and Saudi Arabia ask for it often.
Will it be accepted in my destination country?
An apostille is recognised by all member countries of the Hague Apostille Convention. If your destination also requires embassy legalisation after the apostille, we can arrange that too.
Do I need embassy legalisation for the UAE?
Yes. After solicitor certification and the FCDO apostille, the degree goes to the UAE Embassy in London. It is then usually attested by MOFA in the UAE. See UAE legalisation.
I’m taking my degree to Italy or Spain. What do I need?
Both are Apostille Convention members. Italy also has its own consulate process, explained on our Italian Declaration of Value page. For Spain, see Spain document legalisation.
