What is the Saudi investor work visa?

It’s the route for overseas entrepreneurs who own, or are setting up, a Saudi company. Instead of an employer sponsoring you, your own company does, using its Ministry of Investment (MISA) licence and Commercial Registration (CR). After you arrive, the visa is converted into an investor Iqama (residence permit).

QVP verification: two routes

QVP (Qualification Verification Programme) is still required for investors, but business owners can choose how it’s completed. We advise which route is quicker and better suited to you.

Route 1

Degree basis

If you hold a recognised academic degree, QVP is verified against it, the same way as for a standard work visa.

Route 2

Experience basis

QVP verified against your professional work history instead of a degree. It works whether or not you have a degree and is typically faster. We confirm current timings when you contact us.

Documents required

Your company’s documents take the place of the employer paperwork. We confirm exactly what applies after an initial review.

How we manage your application

  1. Initial consultation Our team

Tell us about your company and qualifications. We confirm the documents needed, the best QVP route and a clear timeline.

  2. Company document review Our team

We go through your MISA licence, CR, visa block number and E-Wakala, and confirm your name is shown correctly on the CR.

  3. QVP verification Our team

We arrange QVP on whichever basis, degree or experience, is quickest and most suitable for you.

  4. Medical and ACRO Our team

We arrange your medical in London and make sure your medical report and ACRO certificate meet Saudi requirements.

  5. Application and submission Our team

We put the complete file together, lodge the application and keep you posted throughout.

  6. Visa issued Applicant

We brief you on entry and on converting your visa to an investor Iqama after you arrive.

Common reasons for delay: the applicant missing from the CR, choosing an unsuitable QVP route, or an expired ACRO certificate. We check for all three before anything is submitted.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Saudi investor work visa?
It lets someone who owns, or is setting up, a Saudi company use that company as their visa sponsor. The company sponsors you using its MISA licence and Commercial Registration instead of an employment contract.
Is Mosadaqa required?
No. Mosadaqa attestation is not required for the investor work visa, but QVP verification is.
Is QVP required?
Yes. You can have QVP assessed against your degree or against your work experience. The experience route works whether or not you hold a degree and is typically faster. We manage it for you.
What documents do I need?
A copy of your company’s MISA licence, a copy of the CR showing your name, the visa block number, an E-Wakala, a medical report, an ACRO Police Certificate and a valid passport, plus QVP verification. No employment contract or Mosadaqa is needed.
How is it different from a standard work visa?
With a standard work visa, an employer sponsors you through an employment contract. The investor visa is sponsored by your own company, uses the MISA licence and CR instead, and doesn’t need Mosadaqa. QVP, a medical and an ACRO certificate are needed for both.
What is a MISA licence?
The investment licence issued by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Investment that allows a foreign investor to own and run a business there. It’s one of the core documents for sponsoring an investor work visa.
Does my name need to be on the CR?
Yes. The Commercial Registration must show your name, confirming your ownership or directorship. If you’re not on it yet, the CR has to be updated first.
How much does it cost?
We give you a fixed quote after reviewing your company documents and QVP route, so you know the full cost before you commit. Obtaining an ACRO certificate on your behalf is an additional fee.
